Campus Ministry
Our Theology program at St. Thomas Aquinas High School supports a blend of challenging religious studies and faith experience. It is not enough to simply know about Jesus; an authentic faith formation needs to be developed in and through learning, prayer, service and shared faith experience in this same Jesus and our Catholic Church. This faith is evidenced in the requirement that each student engage in a minimum of 10 hours of apostolic service each semester. This aspect of our program is designed to enable the student to focus on the ways in which he/she can best use the talents and gifts God has given them in the service of others.
Masses are celebrated, throughout the year, including Holy days and special occasions with the students. During the school year, various religious programs (Class Masses, Penitential Services, speakers from the Archdiocese of Miami and the community) supplement the regular theology course material. During Advent and Lent we celebrate communal Penance Services which are followed by the opportunity for individual confession.
There are three Campus Ministers present on campus. The Campus Ministry Office seeks to work with the entire faculty in developing the spiritual purpose and mission of the school by offering each student an organized spiritual program whereby God's grace might lead all of us closer to the Lord. Campus Ministry's primary inspiration is the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the lives of students. This ministry is marked by prayer, personal presence, interpersonal involvement with students, faculty and parents in a manner and style that invite dialogue. A Mass or Communion Prayer Service is celebrated daily at 7:20 a.m. in our school chapel.
Our campus ministry programs consist of:
- Campus Ministry Leadership Group
- Eucharistic ministers (training)
- Liturgical ministries
- Reconcilian
- Sacramental preparation
- Faith study / Faith sharing
- Monthly ‘Nights of Fellowship.'
Students are encouraged to take an active part in their own parish by serving as Eucharistic Ministers, lectors, altar servers, and CCD teachers. Opportunity is given during the year for students who have not received the Sacrament of Initiation to prepare to do so. These classes will enable them to celebrate and receive the Sacrament of Initiation in their parishes at the appropriate time.
Our supplemental theology programs include:
- Respect Life Club
- Social Justice Club
- Jack and Jill community service
- Vocation speakers
- AIDS awareness programs
- Abstinence programs
- Mass is celebrated each Tuesday and Thursday in the Chapel @ 7:20 a.m.

Spiritual Retreat Programs
At St. Thomas Aquinas, we have spiritual retreat programs for each grade level to enhance their religious experience and relationship with God. Our retreats are as follows:
- Two day Senior Encounter: a retreat designed to encourage students to deepen their personal relationship with Jesus.
- A two day Junior Discipleship Retreat: a retreat experience to explore the students' faith as lived in service to others. This if offered twice a year.
- Sophomore Emmaus Retreat: a retreat experience to reflect on Christ's presence in their lives.
- Freshman Insight Retreat: a retreat experience to establish students’ self-esteem, develop relationships and develop the theme of ‘God loves you.’
