STA Dance Company

The STA Dance Company is an extracurricular opportunity for dancers at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. It is run by the school’s dance teacher, Miss Maria Virginio. Miss Virginio is a graduate of St. Thomas with the class of 1999. She has her BFA from University of the Arts and had a very successful career as a professional dancer, dance captain, and company manager. Miss Virginio has been teaching dance since college and loves passing her passion of dance to future generations. This is her fourth year teaching at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

The STA Dance Company is in its second year, and it is going to be an exciting one. Students who would like to be part of the STA Dance Company should have at least two years of technical dance training in ballet, lyrical, jazz, or contemporary. Being able to dance hip hop or tap is an added bonus. Dance Company members will be performing at school pep rallies, the Christmas Concert, the Spring Concert, and other opportunities as well as competing in state dance competitions. Being in the STA Dance Company offers students the possibility of being inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.

To be inducted into NHSDA, dancers must have a 3.0 unweighted GPA throughout his/her high school career, maintain membership in the STA Dance Company, and fulfill duties of said membership. This is a prestigious honor that is not offered in all high school dance programs.
